BGPCK is a program used in conjunction with BGRDR, a remote mail reader
designed for use with the GT Power BBS family. I am sure your sysop has
BGRDR12.ZIP or a later version online for download somewhere. If you
cannot find it, I am sure if you leave him/her a message, they will get
back to you as soon as possible.
[C]onfig, [L]ist, [H]elp, [D]ownload, [U]pload, [G]oodbye or [Q]uit:
Those are the options available off the main menu. [C]onfig will allow
you to change certain defaults. Anything you change is stored in a
file, so you need only change it once. Options available off the config
menu include:
[A] Mailbag upload and download protocol
[B] Perform unattended zmodem download
[C] Maximum messages per any one area
[D] Maximum uncompressed size of packet
[E] Bag first messages or last messages
[F] Use BGRDR version 1.2 message packets
[G] Last uploaded mail bag identifaction
The default protocol allows you to change what file transfer protocol
you want this door to use when you select [D]ownload or [U]pload off the
main menu. Available protocols include Xmodem, Ymodem, Ymodem Batch,
and Zmodem. If you do not have Zmodem, I would recommend using Ymodem.
Peform unattened zmodem download does everything the door usually does,
but it will not prompt you to download the file. It will automatically
jump into a zmodem transfer. This feature is provided only for people
who use GT or Telix whose zmodem transfer can be auto-started. If the
sysop has the "goodbye" feature active, after a successful download, the
door will give the user sixty seconds before hanging up. Pressing ^K
will abort the logoff process.
Max messages per area sets the maximum about of messages per area that
you may download. The amount you enter can be overridden by the sysop
of this board.
Maximum uncomressed size of packet allows you to set a size, in
kilobytes that limits the size of your downloaded packet. I suggest you
use a value of 1024K (1 Megabyte) or something similar.
Bag first or last messages allows you to set the bagging technique. I
suggest that you leave this at the default setting of FIRST. This will
pack up any messages and if there are more messages in an area that you
are allowed to download, you can get them on your next visit. If this
setting is set to LAST, the messages will be taken from the back part of
the message base. I do not recommend using this feature, as you can
possibily lose messages that you have not yet read.
Last upload bag ID is for advanced users only. You should not change
that option as doing so may cause duplicate messages. When you upload a
mail packet, the door keeps a record of the last bags that you upload so
that duplicates can't be uploaded. If you, however, change the last bag
ID through the [C]onfig option, please be sure you know what you are
doing. Mainly a command for testers.
The [L]ist command will list all users of this door along with the last
date and time they used it.
The [H]elp option displays this file.
The [D]ownload command will start bagging any new mail it can find for
areas into which you are joined. Using GT's UN]join command, or the
reader's UN]join command will "unjoin" you from an area. Once all
messages and done bagging, the door will ask you if you are positive to
download this new packet.
The [U]pload command allows you to upload any new messages or replies
you entered using the reader.
The [G]oodbye command may or may not appear on the main menu. It is
controlled by your sysop. If it does appear, however, you can use the
[G]oodbye comamnd to log off the board. It will disconnect you and not
return you to the host system.
Finally the [Q]uit command will exit from the door and return you to GT.
